Promoting through film

After a successful, six film pilot project, we were invited to produce a further 14 short films for the Queensland, Nothern Territory and South Australian sections of the Lake Eyre Basin.  These were launched with great fanfare and much critical acclaim at the recent Lake Eyre Basin conference in Port Augusta.  Check them out! 




Weed survey and control

Ten years after being identified byt the community as the most pressing natural resource management issue in the Desert Channels region, weeds are still a major issue.  Our recent survey work has included several road corridors, construction sites and grazing properties.  We have followed that up with integrated control works using the latest techniques and equipment.

DC Solutions video production capacity has been on show with the scripting, filming and editing of a 15 minute instructional DVD for landholders and others on the use of endemic fungi for the control of Parkinsonia.



Map review and update scoping

Mapping is one of DC Solutions strengths and it has been put to good use in reviewing the themes, images and data of a promotional map poster, and scoping the work invovled in updating and reprinting the map, including full specifications for the job.



Survey and design of walking trails

By drawing on their expertise in the landscape, flora and fauna of the region, DC Solutions conducted a scoping survey and produced a report on potential recreational walking trails for a western community.

In response to the demand, and to fill a market niche, DC Solutions has launched a video and online workshop production house. DC Digital and Online Outback have been extremely busy on a range of projects that require expertise in the pastoral industry, remote areas and tourism.



Streetscape plantings

Using its expertise in arid gardens and endemic plants, DC Solutions has conducted a survey of town plantings and advised a western council on suitable alternatives to current plants.

Colourful mural tells story of flood

DC Solutions' graphic designers have woven a series of great photographs taken by Bedourie locals into a colourful 3 metre mural to give visitors to the Diamantina Shire a feel for the size and impacts of the massive 2009 flood.



Launch of DC Solutions

The Desert Channels Group celebrated the official launch of its not-for-profit commercial arm, DC Solutions, on the 3rd of April in Longreach. This launch was in conjunction with that of the Desert Channels Foundation, set up to accept philanthropic donations to fund the sustainable natural resource management works of the not-for-profit Desert Channels Queensland.



Digital production to get at the weeds

DC Solutions has at its disposal more than 19 years experience in documentary making as well as radio and television news, and is currently using its digital production expertise developing a weed identification and control method DVD for one client and, for another, a web-based news video, and several web-based information videos.



Pest management survey

By building on the pest management capability of its sister organisation, Desert Channels Queensland, DC Solutions is working on behalf of a client to survey and control an infestation of mesquite.
